MATCH REPORT | VCF edge Osasuna in an eventful game for maiden away win of the season (1-2)

Kluivert and Diakhaby strikes in either half earn Valencia CF first away win of the season.

Valencia CF made a trip to Pamplona to visit Club Atletico Osasuna on Friday Night Football on the 7th of October at El Sadar on Matchday 8 of LaLiga.

The game saw a sloppy start at a high tempo at both ends with the two sides looking to earn a foothold.

The first Valencia CF chance fell to Samuel Lino whose header went straight at the keeper on the 10-minute mark.

Both sides tried to tussle for the ball with Valencia CF looking to break forward at every opportunity halfway through the first half.

Minutes later, Lino came mighty close to scoring on a one-on-one situation with the opposition keeper, but he was flagged up for offside in the buildup.

Persistence paid dividends close to the half-hour mark when Cavani played a deft through ball into Justin Kluivert who expertly lifted the ball over the keeper and inside the far post to put Valencia CF in front.

Valencia CF set their stalls out in defence after the go-ahead goal withstanding a few forays forward from the opposition.

Illaix Moriba forced the opposition keeper into a stop on the stroke of halftime.

Valencia CF edged Club Atletico Osasuna at the break.

Valencia CF came out of the blocks in the second half looking to double their advantage by taking the game to the opposition.

Edinson Cavani almost put Valencia CF two goals to the good but his effort was blocked away by Unai García

Mouctar Diakhaby made it 0-2 for Valencia CF who smartly poked it home pouncing on a CA Osasuna let-off at the back.

The hosts were awarded a spot-kick for a bad foul on Kike which Chimy Avila blazed over the bar close to the hour mark.

Valencia CF were awarded a penalty at the other end as CA Osasuna were reduced to ten men.

Alas, Cavani crashed his 12-yard effort against the crossbar with twenty minutes of regulation time plus stoppage time left to go.

Samuel Lino almost added a third goal following a brilliant break but his effort fizzed just wide of the post.

CA Osasuna pulled one back minutes after Diakhaby's dismissal for a second yellow card.

Valencia CF resolutely held out to come away with a much-needed away win of the season as the game ended in a 0-2 win for Valencia CF.
